Kate Middleton Is the ‘Real MVP’ of the Royal Family: Expert
Kate Middleton‘s 2025 royal return has been nothing short of spectacular. The Princess of Wales spent much of 2024 in recovery from a cancer diagnosis. Now she’s back and being called the “real MVP” of the royal family.
2025 is Kate Middleton’s year
Royal historian Amanda Foreman told People Magazine that Kate Middleton’s importance to the tapestry of the House of Windsor was none more evident than when she stepped back from her duties. Kate retreated from the spotlight in 2024 as she underwent medical intervention for cancer.
On June 15, 2024, Kate Middleton made a highly anticipated return to the public eye following a cancer diagnosis. Six months after undergoing abdominal surgery in January, she joined her family at Trooping the Colour, marking a poignant and symbolic comeback to royal life.
The royal historian said that Kate’s return to the royal spotlight appeared seamless. It also highlighted how vital she remains to the crown.
Foreman explained, “She is the MVP of the royal family. No one knew when she was going to come back.”
The historian continued, “[Kate’s] making her outings more meaningful in a way that had never been done before. And, she’s ahead of the curve, creating the meaningful moment rather than the Instagrammable moment.”
Kate Middleton and Prince William are united
Throughout 2024, Kate Middleton and Prince William remained a united front. The couple stood strong in the face of a challenging 365 days when the very fiber of the crown was untangled after Kate and King Charles’ cancer diagnosis’.
Amanda Foreman told People Magazine the couple’s union features a “sense of protectiveness and partnership.” And, it comes on the heels of a challenging set of circumstances.
She added, “The last five years have been a nightmare for them in every possible way.” Events that further united Kate and William as a couple included the deaths of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal exit, and both Charles and Kate’s cancer battles.
However, Kate and William remain united. Their love was apparent in a video the couple shared on Instagram in September, where they were featured alongside their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
What’s next for the Princess of Wales?

Kate Middleton started 2025 strong. She began the year with a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she had received cancer treatment. Kate expressed her gratitude to the medical staff and connected with current patients.
Subsequently, Kate has resumed a more dedicated schedule of royal duties. On March 10 she attended the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey on March 10. And, on March 17, she attended the Irish Guards’ St. Patrick’s Day parade where she presented medals and shamrocks to soldiers.
Looking ahead, the Princess of Wales plans to continue her public engagements and charitable endeavors. Her resilience and dedication have inspired many, and she remains a central figure in the royal family’s public persona.
