Katy Perry ‘Regrets’ ‘Kissing the Ground’ After Blue Origin Flight, Source Says
Pop sensation Katy Perry just reached for the stars — literally — with mixed reviews. The chart-topping singer boarded the Blue Origin space flight along with Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn. The 11-minute journey had Perry announcing how she felt more connected to love than ever before, and her ground kiss upon her return was met with harsh criticism. Here’s what a source said about Perry regretting some of her actions on April 14, 2025.
Katy Perry allegedly regrets making a ‘public spectacle’ out of her space travel
No one ever expected Katy Perry to head to space. However, the Blue Origin NS-31 mission gave her the opportunity, and she couldn’t wait to board the historic, all-female flight. Upon Perry’s return, she kissed the ground and discussed how her life is forever changed thanks to her incredible experience.
“I feel super connected to love,” Perry told NBC News once she was back on the ground from her 11-minute space travel. “So connected to love. I think this experience has shown me you never know how much love is inside of you, like, how much love you have to give, and how loved you are until the day you launch.”
Perry sang Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” while in space. “I’ve covered that song in the past, and, obviously, my higher self is always steering the ship, because I had no clue that one day I would decide to sing a little bit of that in space,” she told the interviewer. Perry noted that her time traveling in space was less about her personally and more about the “collective energy in there.”
A source told DailyMail.com that Perry has a few “regrets” associated with her Blue Origin journey. “Katy doesn’t regret going to space. It was life-changing,” the source revealed. “What she does regret is making a public spectacle out of it.”
The source added that Perry regrets “kissing the ground” and her “close-up camera moments,” which included holding a daisy to the camera and promoting her upcoming tour by showing the setlist. Perry allegedly “regrets sharing the daisy with the world” and ultimately “wishes the video footage from inside the pod was never shown.”
Martha Stewart and other celebrities dragged Katy Perry and the other celebrities on the Blue Origin flight
Katy Perry’s fans dragged her for appearing out of touch after her space flight with Blue Origin. Some celebrities got in on the fun, too. Martha Stewart posted a clip from 2007 showing her in zero gravity. She added text to the clip reading, “Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind?” — lyrics to Perry’s 2010 song, “Firework.”
“I boarded a Boeing 727 aircraft called GForce One and experienced what astronauts feel when they reach zero gravity,” Stewart says in the clip. The famous homemaker captioned the post, “In case you spaced out in 2007, Martha has always been ahead of her time.”
Olivia Munn, Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, Amy Schumer, Meg Stalter, and even Wendy’s called out Perry for the space stunt. “Can we send her back,” Wendy’s tweeted.
A source said Wendy’s should issue an apology to the pop sensation
Several celebrities poked fun at Katy Perry’s reaction to her space flight. However, Wendy’s tweet suggesting Perry should head back to space didn’t sit well with some. A source close to the situation told People that the corporate fast food chain “disrespected” Perry.
“Wendy’s didn’t make a joke — they made a choice,” a source said. “Their recent posts on X aimed at Katy Perry were not only disrespectful, but blatantly inappropriate.”
“This wasn’t harmless banter, this was a billion-dollar brand using its platform to publicly demean a woman,” the source noted, adding, “when billion-dollar brands join in, it’s irresponsible.”
Wendy’s responded to People in light of the comments.
“We always bring a little spice to our socials, but Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world talent,” they stated.
