Katy Perry’s Legal Team Files Motion to Remove Orlando Bloom From Legal Battle, Documents Show
Katy Perry’s legal battle against an 85-year-old disabled veteran is making waves. Veteran Carl Westcott sued Perry’s business manager in 2020 to undo a deal that involved him selling his $15 million mansion in Santa Barbara, California, to Perry. Westcott alleged he was on pain medication when making the deal. Perry’s team refused Westcott’s plea, and the court sided with Perry. Now, Perry is trying to remove her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, from the case. Here’s what’s going on.
Katy Perry and her legal team filed a motion to remove Orlando Bloom from their legal battle against Carl Westcott

Katy Perry and Carl Westcott’s legal battle began in 2020. After the courts sided with Perry in November 2023, phase two of the trial involved Perry’s legal team requesting millions in damages from Westcott. According to Perry’s legal team, Westcott neglected the property before handing it off to Perry. Westcott’s legal team denied that he didn’t properly care for the property.
In November 2024, Westcott’s legal team issued a subpoena to Perry’s fiancé, Orland Bloom. Bloom will have to testify in phase two of the trial scheduled for Feb. 25, 2025.
According to In Touch Weekly, Perry’s legal team filed a motion on Jan. 22, 2025, requesting the judge to dismiss Bloom’s subpoena. Sources close to Westcott’s family claimed Bloom knows key information about the case, as he said he had involvement. However, Perry’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, and Gudvi’s lawyers reject this claim.
“Mr. Bloom has no knowledge remotely bearing on the facts of this case,” the motion reads. “He does not know what compensation is owed to [Bernie] for specific performance of the July 2020 real property sale contract, what damage to the property had occurred before [Bernie] took ownership last year, or how to estimate and assess the cost of those damages.”
“Aware that [Orlando] has no relevant evidence, [Carl] did not even ask for his deposition during discovery and sought no documents or information from him,” Gudvi’s lawyer stated. “The only alleged reason for the subpoena purportedly is his being a witness to ‘the scope of repairs and to the scope of all other work being done or contemplated at the house.’”
Gudvi’s lawyer concluded that Perry’s “family should be off-limits.”
