Lions Star Amon-Ra St. Brown Reveals That He Did Not Want to Go to Detroit After He Was Drafted
Kevin Hart kicked off Season 11 of his Cold As Balls YouTube talk series on the LOL! Network with fan-favorite Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
The NFL star got candid with the host during their ice bath conversation and shared that he initially did not want to play football for the city that has embraced him.
What St. Brown told Hart about not wanting to go to Detroit
During the Cold As Balls season premiere on April 8, the two discussed when St. Brown was drafted in 2021.
Hart mentioned that the athlete was selected in the fourth round and asked what his mindset was about that.
“I was pissed,” St. Brown replied.
Hart then questioned if he was excited about going to Detroit and St. Brown admitted, “No, I was not … at the time I was like ‘F*** I’m going to Detroit.'”
The wideout’s lack of enthusiasm about playing for the Lions is because every year since 2018, the team had always finished with a losing record and last place in the NFC North division. So there wasn’t much to be “excited” about back then.
St. Brown feels differently about Detroit these days
The California native stressed that he now “loves” Detroit.
St. Brown also declared his love for the Motor City after a game last season, telling reporters: “I love it (that Detroit rides with me). I mean, Detroit going to ride for Detroit all the time. That’s what I love about the city. You come at Detroit, they’re going to come at you.”
Cold As Balls is directed and executive produced by Michael D. Ratner and presented by Old Spice. It was created by OBB Media’s newest division, OBB LiVE, in collaboration with OBB Pictures and Hartbeat. New episodes air Tuesdays on the Laugh Out Loud YouTube channel.
