’Mama June: Family Crisis’ Season 7 Trailer Teases Custody Battle, Health Scare, and Legal Drama
Mama June Shannon and her chaotic family are back for another season of reality TV drama.
“Even though we might be a dysfunctional family, the dysfunctionality works for our family,” Mama June declares at the beginning of WE tv’s trailer for Mama June: Family Crisis Season 7.
The nearly two-minute teaser offers hints of what to expect from the explosive new season, which premieres May 30. That includes Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s battle with her mom over money, June Shannon’s fight to obtain custody of her granddaughter, and big problems in Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird and Josh Efird’s marriage.
Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo Thompson’ confront Mama June Shannon over missing money
On the last season of Family Crisis, Alana confronted her mom about money she suspected was missing from her Coogan account, a bank account set up to protect the earnings of child stars. That issue is still unresolved, with Alana demanding her mom fork over the cash, while June appears to not be taking her daughter’s concerns seriously.
“Where is my check?” Alana asks June.
June then presents the former Toddlers and Tiaras star with a giant – and clearly fake – check. Alana isn’t amused.
“This isn’t a game,” she tells a producer.
Despite the ongoing conflict with her mom, Alana is “thriving” at college in Colorado. But trouble is brewing with her boyfriend Dralin Carswell, who is facing prison time after his March 2023 arrest for driving under the influence.
“I’m just really hoping that he does not have to do to jail,” she says.
Mama June fights for custody of Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s daughter

Meanwhile, Mama June is dealing with a legal mess of her own. She and her husband Justin Stroud have gone to court to obtain custody Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s daughter Kaitlyn. Anna died of cancer in December 2023 at age 29, and June has been fighting Anna’s husband Michael Cardwell for custody rights. (Michael is not Kaitlyn’s biological father.)
“We’re gonna fight like hell to have that happen,” June says before scenes of an emotional moment in a lawyer’s office. (June was awarded custody of Kaitlyn in September 2024.)
Pumpkin is also dealing with her share of turmoil this season as her relationship with Justin falls apart.
“Whatever hope I had left for my marriage is gone,” he says.
Who’s to blame for the split? The trailer hints that Pumpkin might have cheated on her husband.
As the trailer draws to a close, June receives some frightening news about her health, as a woman warns her that she might have a heart attack, and Pumpkin rushes to the hospital. Tension in the family threatens to boil over at a family dinner.
“Bitch, I’m done with you,” Pumpkin declares as a weary June puts her head on the table.
Also this season, June and Justin search for a new, bigger house, and Pumpkin’s business booms with a new warehouse, vendor event, and a new employee, which causes a rift with her sister, Jessica Shannon.
Mama June: Family Crisis premieres Friday, May 30 at 8 p.m. ET on WE tv. Episodes also stream on ALLBLK and AMC+.
