Mario Cantone Has Requested ‘More Nudity’ in Season 3 of ‘And Just Like That…’ After His Instagram Inbox Blew Up
Mario Cantone is more than happy to strip for the camera, at least now that he knows how fans responded to his nude scene in season 2 of And Just Like That... Cantone recently told Kristin Davis that his season 2 scene prompted such an influx of social media DMs that he actually requested more naked scenes for season 3 of the show. He said he enjoyed being “sexualized” at his age.
Mario Cantone requested more nudity after his butt shot had people sliding into his DMs
Mario Cantone has spent years playing Charlotte York’s on-screen bestie, Anthony Marentino. Ahead of the release of season 3, Cantone sat down with Kristin Davis on Are You a Charlotte? to discuss the reboot. Cantone admitted that his naked scene, in which his bare butt was visible, was enough to change his Instagram engagement.

Cantone said he was initially nervous about the scene, fearing that he would be ill-received because of his age. As it turns out, the opposite was true. Cantone told Davis that his DMs “blew up” within hours of the scene airing. He was delighted with the outcome, too. Cantone said he told Michael Patrick King, ‘I like being sexualized at 65 years old. It’s good.” He even requested more nudity.
Mario Cantone first took on the role of Anthony Marentino in ‘Sex and the City’
Mario Cantone first appeared as Anthony Marentino in Season 3 of Sex and the City. In the episode “Running with Scissors,” he appeared as Charlotte York’s wedding planner who loudly exclaimed “hates it!” when discussing wedding gowns. Initially planned to have a small story arc, he quickly became a fan favorite for his fiery wit and unapologetic honesty. As the series progressed, Anthony quickly became Charlotte’s bestie, appearing more frequently in the series. He reprised his role again in both films before returning for the Max reboot.

Anthony appeared throughout season 1 of And Just Like That…, cementing himself as part of the core group. The character’s storyline shifted and changed following the death of Willie Garson, the actor who portrayed Cantone’s on-screen foe-turned-husband, Stanford Blatch. Garson died of pancreatic cancer before season 1 premiered. He appeared in the reboot’s first three episodes, although a more expansive storyline was planned. Cantone’s storyline was also changed in the wake of Garson’s death.
