Meghan Markle Caught Rolling Her Eyes at Her Mother, Doria Ragland, During New Interview
Meghan Markle has been pretty busy lately. The Duchess of Sussex’s series on Netflix With Love, Meghan recently debuted. She then announced her new podcast is coming out, she launched a ShopMy page, and has finally released several products from her As Ever collection.
Prince Harry’s wife also gave a rare interview in her Montecito home, not a rental property like in her show, her actual home. While no photos were allowed to be taken, Meghan did share a behind-the-scenes video with her mother, Doria Ragland, in her kitchen.
But some picked up on one snippet from the interview and are comparing it to another much-talked-about moment the duchess had with her mom when she forgot she was on camera.
When interviewer spotted Meghan rolling her eyes at her mother
The interview was conducted by food reporter Julia Moskin for The New York Times. She explained that Meghan showed her one of her favorite recipes called Chantilly Lili named after her daughter, Princess Lilibet.
Moskin wrote: “To finish the pudding, she got out the hand mixer to make Chantilly cream the vanilla-spiked, sweetened whipped cream that would give the dessert its name: Chantilly Lili, after the 3-year-old redhead who had just arrived home. Ms. Ragland said she still wasn’t convinced that she needed a hand mixer of her own; she has a KitchenAid stand mixer at home in Los Angeles.
“The duchess rolled her eyes at her mother, as daughters do.”
Even though it seems so simple, that eyeroll got a lot of people talking and bringing up the old viral video of how Meghan looked when she was at an event with Ragland, who interrupted her while she was speaking. The look was widely referred to as Meghan’s “death stare” and became an internet meme.
While this interaction was nothing like that, commenters still had some pretty harsh responses, with a few claiming that Ragland was “scared” to tell her daughter what she really thought of the dessert.
Other things Meghan and Doria discussed in the interview
Moskin shared that Prince Harry was at home the day of the interview, saying: “Meghan roved between the garden, where Prince Harry stopped by the strawberry patch in Birkenstocks to say he was getting on a work call.” He did not take part in the interview; only Meghan and her mom did.
When Moskin asked Meghan about the criticism she received for not being “relatable” in her Netflix show, the former Suits star replied, “Don’t they know my life hasn’t always been like this?” while gesturing at the sweeping views from the window” before adding that she “needs” and “loves” to work.
The interviewer also brought up how many people on social media posted that Le Creuset pans are too expensive to afford and wanted to know why the duchess won’t just use simple cast-iron ones.
“This is a thing, in 2025?” Meghan said stunned as she threw her hands up and turned to her mother. Ragland then chimed in, declaring: “Everyone is coming in hot these days.”
