Meghan Markle’s Nightmare as Pamela Anderson Copycat Claims Could Derail Netflix Debut: Expert
Meghan Markle‘s Netflix debut is facing accusations that With Love, Meghan is strikingly similar to Pamela Anderson’s Flavour Network series, Pamela, Cooking With Love. Both projects were developed months apart and premiered within weeks of each other. Now, a royal expert says there are suspicious parallels between the projects, questioning how much Meghan’s series knew of Anderson’s concept.
Royal expert claims Meghan Markle’s show copies Pamela Anderson’s ‘frame-for-frame’
News of Meghan Markle’s lifestyle show for Netflix was first revealed in 2023. That same year, Pamela Anderson shared she was doing a cooking series for The Flavour Network.
Meghan and Anderson’s shows dropped within weeks of each other. Soon, royal experts began to draw comparisons began them.
On his YouTube channel, royal expert Neil Sean claims Meghan’s show is a “frame-for-frame” copy of Anderson’s. He alleges, “As you can see, Meghan has been inspired by her [Anderson’s] cookery show, right?”
“It’s difficult to reinvent it, but Meghan didn’t even bother with that. Clearly, she just got inspired,” he said.
Sean believes this irony will be good for Anderson, not Meghan. “This is going to be very successful for Pamela Anderson in effect, Meghan being inspired by Pamela’s show. It’s literally been an injection back into Pamela’s brand.”
He concluded, “So, if Meghan thought that nobody would spot this, well, now clearly nobody’s going to want to watch Meghan simply because they’ve kind of seen it first with Pamela.”
Copycat claims unlikely to derail either show
Claims Pamela Anderson’s cooking show concept was copied for Meghan Markle will likely not hurt either series in the long run. There are two key reasons why.
The first is that Anderson’s show airs in Australia and Canada. Therefore, those living in those countries will have the opportunity to watch both series and make their comparisons. But viewers who live outside of Australia will only get to see snippets of Anderson’s series while watching Meghan’s in full.
The second is that Anderson’s Pamela, Cooking With Love focuses on vegan cooking. With Love, Meghan is a lifestyle series where Meghan shares decorating and lifestyle skills along with her favorite recipes.
However, Daniela Elser of News.com.au believes some copycat elements of both series are too obvious to ignore. She writes, “Both shows seem to promise to show us the hitherto unseen getting-back-to-basics side of two very famous women as they glory in banging pots and pans and ambling around their personal kale crops.”
Elser adds, “In Meghan’s series, she makes candles and arranges flowers. Ms. Anderson told the Flavour Network she loves to make candles and flower arrangements.”
She continues, “In the trailer for With Love, Meghan says, ‘I’m gonna share some little tips and tricks.’ Anderson has said her show will teach ‘all these entertaining little tips.'”
The future of Meghan Markle’s and Pamela Anderson’s shows
As of now, there is no official information regarding the renewal of Pamela Anderson’s cooking show, Pamela’s Cooking With Love. The series premiered Feb. 24, 2025, on The Flavour Network.
Typically, networks wait to see how a series performs throughout its initial run before it comes up for renewal. Therefore, updates about a potential second season of Anderson’s series remain forthcoming.
With Love, Meghan airs just as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix deal nears its end. The couple signed with the streaming service in March 2020.
Netflix has yet to share if, With Love, Meghan was renewed for season 2. Thus far, all of Meghan and Harry’s Netflix series’ haven’t gone beyond one season.
Their projects include Harry & Meghan, Polo, Heart of Invictus, and Live to Lead. Two still in development with the streamer include a series Bad Manners, and a film, Meet Me at the Lake.
Meghan Markle’s With Love, Meghan is currently streaming on Netflix.
