Russell Brand is expected in court on May 2 to address sexual assault and rape charges in London. His current legal troubles are linked to his time in the United Kingdom in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Still, Brand once unknowingly associated himself with a completely different sexual assault scandal stateside. Brand disclosed his connection to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and his attendance at the disgraced rapper’s infamous parties before completely changing his tune.

Russell Brand insisted he couldn’t say ‘no’ to Diddy

Russell Brand has his own sexual assault scandal to deal with at the moment. He is connected to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sex scandal in a roundabout way. While Brand hasn’t been named in any of the lawsuits filed against Combs, he did once place himself at a Diddy party and defended his decision to attend.

In 2010, Brand said that Diddy “forced him” to vacation with him in Las Vegas. He claimed that he wasn’t totally into attending any of Diddy’s parties because he didn’t want to feel like he “owed” someone powerful anything. Still, Brand went. He said he spent time with the music mogul because “you can’t say ‘no'” to someone like Diddy. The specific party that Brand attended has not been named in any Diddy suit that we know of.

Russell Brand changed his tune more recently

While Russell Brand once defended his decision to party with Diddy, he attempted to distance himself from the more nefarious activities that went on at Diddy’s events once the scandal broke. In December 2024, Brand took to social media to recall his time at one of the rapper’s infamous white parties. Diddy was charged in September 2024.

In a clip shared on Instagram, Brand said that he attended one of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ white parties. He insisted he spent most of the event chatting with Tom Green before heading home early in the evening, though. Brand said he was happy he had left the party prematurely because he was “not qualified” to “handle” the activities that allegedly transpired at the infamous parties. Brand said he was trying to get “closer to God” and was happy he avoided Diddy’s late-night festivities.
