UK police charged actor, comedian, and podcaster Russell Brand with rape, indecent assault, oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault in 2025 following allegations that were investigated in 2023. Brand retains that he’s innocent. He posted a video to X on April 4, 2025, claiming he “never engaged in nonconsensual activity” despite his foolish past.

“When I was young and single, before I had my wife and family … I was a fool, man,” Brand admitted. “… I was a drug addict, sex addict, and an imbecile. But what I never was was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in nonconsensual activity. I pray that you can see that.”

Brand met his wife, Laura Gallacher, when she was 19 and he was 30 in 2007. They tied the knot 10 years later in 2017. Their age gap turned heads, and Gallacher’s family was allegedly skeptical of Brand. Gallacher’s father, Scottish golfer Bernard Gallacher, allegedly “begged” her to end her romance with Brand, according to DailyMail.com. While the couple went through rough patches before getting married, they appear to be going strong in 2025.

In 2023, a friend of the couple told the publication that Gallacher planned to stand by Brand’s side amid the allegations.

“What Russell did was firmly in the past, way before he and Laura met,” the friend explained. “Of course, it isn’t easy, but they are determined to get through this.”

At the time, Gallacher deleted her Instagram account. She hasn’t spoken out regarding the charges against her husband.
