Tammy Slaton Reveals She’s Dating a Woman in ‘1000-lb Sisters’ Season Premiere
There’s someone new in Tammy Slaton’s life! The 1000-lb Sisters star has been seeing someone for several months, and now she’s ready to let her family know about her relationship. But she’s worried about how they’re going to react when she reveals she’s dating a woman.
Tammy’s teases new relationship in ‘1000-lb Sisters’ season premiere
Tammy, 38, opens up about her new romance in the 1000-lb Sisters season premiere, which airs April 15 on TLC.
“There’s something I haven’t told my family. Amy’s not the only one that’s been seeing somebody new. So have I,” she says in a clip from the episode (via People).
“I have been seeing someone for the past couple months and it’s going pretty well,” she adds.
“I think I want to approach this relationship different than I have in the past, so I haven’t told my family because my family’s gonna have something to say about it,” the TLC star continues.
Tammy was previously married to Caleb Willingham. The pair met while both were in the same rehab facility in Ohio. They married in November 2022. In July 2023, Tammy announced that Caleb had died.
Tammy says she ‘just don’t want to be with men anymore’
Though Tammy was previously married to a man, she says she’s no longer interested in heterosexual relationships.
“The person I’m dating is a woman,” she explains to a producer. “A few years ago I came out as pansexual but after Caleb passing, I just don’t want to be with men anymore.”
Tammy previously discussed her sexuality in a 2021 episode of 1000-lb Sisters.
“I always thought I was bisexual, and then I started talking to one of my friends and she told me she was pansexual, and I asked her kind of what it meant,” she said. “It means you love everybody, not just the same sex. And I was like, ‘Well, I guess I am too,’ because I wouldn’t mind being with someone who’s transgender, or whatever.”
Last year, Tammy told her followers on TikTok that she “kinda stopped messing with guys after my husband passed.
“So, I’m like a lesbian,” she said in the video, according to E! News.
Though Tammy has been open about her sexuality, she’s still nervous about how her opinionated family will react to her new relationship.
“You know, I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has assholes because they be farting so much,” she says in the upcoming episode.
“I don’t know how my family is going to react when I tell them I’m seeing a woman,” she adds.
In addition to Tammy’s new relationship, this season of 1000-lb Sisters will address her sister Amy Slaton’s legal problems following a camel-bite incident at a Tennessee wildlife park, and Tammy’s nicotine addiction and desire for skin removal surgery.
1000-lb Sisters premieres Tuesday, April 15 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
