Taylor Swift Said Jennifer Lopez Gave Her 1 of the Defining Songs of Her Childhood
Taylor Swift grew up listening to Jennifer Lopez’s music. When she became a famous singer herself, she invited Lopez on stage with her to perform one of her songs. While introducing the number, Swift said one of Lopez’s biggest hits played a major role in her childhood.
Taylor Swift once said she loved 1 Jennifer Lopez song
In 2013, Lopez joined Swift onstage during her Red Tour. Swift introduced Lopez by sharing how important one of her songs had been to her.
“You know how you have your favorite song that you just play over and over and over again,” she told her audience, per E! News. “You just blast it in your room and you’d sing in front of your mirror into a hairbrush, right? You have that one favorite song. It was your favorite song to dance to. Los Angeles, this is my hairbrush song.”
With that, the duo began performing “Jenny From the Block.”
Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez enjoyed working together
After Lopez joined Swift onstage, some tabloids reported that their collaboration hadn’t been pleasant for Swift. Outlets reported that Lopez had been “rude” behind the scenes. A source said this was far from the truth.
“The performance collaboration was a fantastic experience, and Taylor was thrilled,” the source said. “Jennifer and Taylor hit it off tremendously and they had a blast working together, as did their respective crews.”
The source added that Swift even had hopes of working with Lopez again.
“Taylor loved working with Jennifer, and was so impressed with her professionalism,” the source said. “Taylor is even putting together a video of her week of shows in L.A., and this will be a big part of that. Clearly, she would not do that if she was not going to work with her again.”
The ‘Jenny From the Block’ singer wanted Swift in her movie
In 2024, Lopez released the documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told. It followed the making of her film This Is Me…Now: A Love Story. A number of celebrities made cameos in the project, but Lopez had hopes that even more would appear. Swift, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, Lizzo, Vanessa Hudgens, Ariana Grande, Snoop Dogg and Khloé Kardashian turned down cameos in the movie.
“I don’t wanna force anybody to do this who doesn’t go, ‘This is gonna be fun,’” Lopez said in the documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told. “People are scared. Scared to put themselves out there. I get it. Took me a long time. I’m scared. I don’t act like I’m scared, but that’s the secret to my whole f***ing career.”
While these stars did not appear in the film, a number of others did. Jane Fonda, Derek Hough, Trevor Jackson, Fat Joe, Jennifer Lewis, Post Malone, Trevor Noah, Keke Palmer, Sofia Vergara, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Kim Petras, and others all made appearances.
