Terrence Howard Admits How He Blew His Chance to Date Beyoncé; ‘There Was Chemistry’
Actor Terrence Howard made headlines after his explosive interview on Patrick Bed-David’s PBD Podcast in which he discussed disgraced Bad Boys founder Sean “Diddy” Combs and the dark side of the entertainment industry.
Now, another interview that he did several years back is making the rounds again, likely for his admission about Beyoncè.
Before she was married to Jay-Z and still performing as part of Destiny’s Child with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, the ladies put on a sultry performance during the BET Awards that Howard didn’t seem to mind at all. He later admitted that he and Queen Bey had “chemistry” when cameras weren’t rolling, but he screwed up his chance with her.
Here’s more on that, plus if Howard tried to make a move on some other famous ladies he had chemistry with.
What Howard said he did to blow it with Beyoncé
The throwback interview took place in 2013 when he and his Best Man Holiday co-star Nia Long appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Howard was shown a clip from the 2005 BET Awards, when he got a lap dance from Beyoncè as part of her performance. Lakers legend Magic Johnson and rapper Nelly joined him on stage as they were given the seductive dances by Williams and Rowland.
When asked to rate Bey’s skills, the Iron Man star replied: “It’s a 9 for the lap dance. But the intent … she wanted to show me what I missed out on … that was 100.”
When the show host and the entire audience appeared stunned, Howard confirmed that he and the “Drunk in Love” singer almost got together back in the day. He went on to say that he blew his chance with her though by hollering at her friend.
“We talked for a minute. There was chemistry,” he shared. “But it was over when I started talking to her friend!”
Howard also had chemistry with some other famous ladies over the years
Another woman fans believe Howard always had chemistry with is Taraji P. Henson. The two shared the screen in the film Hustle & Flow when she played Shug and he played DJay, and years later in the television series Empire as Cookie and Lucious.
During an interview with Angie Martinez on 105.1, Henson explained why they never “crossed the line” and always kept things professional between them.
“If Terrence and I crossed that line, Cookie and Lucious wouldn’t be the same,” she said, adding, “If we crossed that line when we did Hustle & Flow and really kissed, that kiss wouldn’t have been the same … You have to learn how to keep it separate because it can cloud the work.”
One co-star Howard did try to hook up with was Long while they were filming the first Best Man movie.
He revealed that he tried to sleep with Long but got shut down right away as she bluntly told him, “You’re not gonna take me home so you can f***.”
