TNT is reviving its quirky adventure show The Librarians with a new spinoff/sequel series, The Librarians: The Next Chapter.

‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter’ premieres May 25

The Librarians: The Next Chapter will debut with a special, two-night premiere event, the network announced Thursday. 

Episode 1 premieres on Sunday, May 25 immediately following NBA playoffs coverage. Episode 2 will air on Monday, May 26, right after NHL playoffs coverage. Subsequent episodes in the 12-episode season will air on Monday nights on TNT.  The show has already been renewed for a second season, Deadline reports.

So far, there’s no word on if or when The Librarians: The Next Chapter will be available to stream. TNT is included in various live TV streaming packages, including YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, and Sling TV.  

The Librarians: The Next Chapter is a sequel to The Librarians, which starred Noah Wyle and aired for four seasons on TNT from 2014 to 2018. That show was a spinoff of a series of made-for-TV movies, which also featured Wyle as the titular librarian. The latest version of The Librarians was originally supposed to air on The CW in the fall of 2024. After that network abruptly dropped the show, TNT stepped in to give it a new home.

Callum McGowan stars in the new ‘Librarians’ spinoff 

Calllum McGowan stars as Vikram Chamberlain in the new show. He’s a Librarian who is stuck in the present after time-traveling from 1847. When he returns to his castle in Belgrade, he discovers it’s been turned into a museum. He also inadvertently releases magic across the continent. To clean up the mess, Vikram turns to an eclectic group of heroes, including a world history savant, a scientific genius, and a highly skilled Guardian. Together, the team will embark on fantastic adventures, including solving an Agatha Christie-style murder, an encounter with a vampire, and a trip back to the days of the legendary King Arthur. 

In addition to McGowan, the cast includes Jessica Green, Olivia Morris, Bluey Robinson, and Caroline Loncq. Christian Kane from The Librarians will return as Jacob Stone in a guest-starring role.
