It Wasn’t All Bad as Video Shows Moments King Charles and Princess Diana Couldn’t Have Looked Any Happier Together
When we think of Princess Diana‘s marriage to then-Prince Charles “happy” isn’t the first word that comes to mind.
The event, which was dubbed the “wedding of the century,” took place on July 29, 1981, at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral in front of 3,500 guests. Some of those in attendance included members of other royal families, dignitaries, and republican heads of state. There was also a global audience of hundreds of millions watching at home, and celebrations were held throughout the Commonwealth.
While the wedding looked like something out of a storybook, we know that their marriage didn’t have a fairy-tale ending. And because of how things turned out between them, many people don’t realize things weren’t always so bad. Now a video going viral proves just that showing happier times between the former Prince and Princess of Wales.
Video shows Princess Diana and Charles looking so happy together

The video posted on TikTok is titled “Sweet Memories of Charles and Diana.” It begins with collages of their engagement then their wedding and snaps of them with their sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and the the pair attending royal events. What’s striking is despite what happened between Charles and Diana, in all of these photos there was never a hint of sadness or despair. They really did look extremely “happy.”
So far, the video has over 45,000 views, more than 3,000 likes, and dozens of comments.
Fans reacted to the clips agreeing that they “just appreciate the fact that they’re seeing them happy.”
One pointed out that they could tell from the images that “Even though it’s just for a while, at least they once loved each other.”
And another concluded: “Charles did love her, but his heart chose Camilla.”
Former secretary remembers Charles and Diana ‘not being able to keep their hands off each other’

Queen Elizabeth’s former secretary provided more evidence that there was a time when Charles and Diana appeared to be so in love and “couldn’t keep their hands off each other.”
During an episode of Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, the late queen‘s ex-press secretary, Dickie Arbiter, said he had witnessed those times with his very own eyes.
“I remember going on tour just after they got married in 1981 and she was the first Princess of Wales in about 80 years, so it was a big deal,” Arbiter recalled (per the Express). “They couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Charles used to pat her bum regularly. There were times when he would even squeeze it, even in Australia. There was a relationship from the beginning. There was genuine love and happiness there.”
Charles and Diana divorced in 1996, one year before the princess died following a car crash in Paris. In 2005, King Charles married his second wife, known then as Camilla Parker Bowles.
