Aaliyah is an American singer, model, and dancer. She signed a contract with Jive Records at the age of 12 and became an overnight R&B icon. She died in a fatal car crash at the peak of her fame.
A 15-year-old Aaliyah reportedly married a then-27-year-old R. Kelly in 1994. The singer denied the reports and the marriage was reportedly annulled.
Aaliyah died in a plane crash in The Bahamas while returning from a music shoot. Eight members of her film crew also lost their lives in the 2001 crash. She was 22 years old at the time of her death.
