Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton is an award-winning American actor, country singer, and humanitarian. She is well known for her songs "Jolene," "9 to 5," and "I Will Always Love You."
Parton was born on January 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. She grew up in rural Appalachia with 11 siblings. She was introduced to music via her mother, who sang and played the guitar, and performed in church growing up. By the age of 10, Parton was performing professionally on TV and on radio shows locally.
Parton's first full-length solo album, Hello, I'm Dolly, was released in 1967. She has sold more than 100 million records, and is in a rare group of fewer than 100 people who have received nominations for an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
In 1986, Parton opened up her own theme park called Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
