Mark Wahlberg is an Oscar-nominated actor, producer, businessman, and former rapper. He first made it big in the music industry as the frontman for the hip-hop group Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch. Their biggest hit, "Good Vibrations," topped the Billboard charts in 1991.
Five years later, he took his tough-guy persona to the big screen for the thriller Fear, in which he played a psychopath obsessed with his girlfriend, portrayed by Reese Witherspoon. In 1997, he cemented his status as a Hollywood A-lister when he played a porn star in the comedy/drama Boogie Nights.
Since then, he has racked up dozens of acting and producing credits for movies ranging from dramas to action flicks to comedies. In addition, he earned Academy Awards nominations for Best Supporting Actor for the 2007 crime drama The Departed and for Best Picture for the 2010 biographical sports drama The Fighter, which he also produced.
