The Weeknd, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye to Ethiopian immigrants, is a singer, songwriter, and producer originating from Canada.
He signed with a label in 2012 after gaining popularity on anonymous YouTube vibes, and he released his debut studio album Kiss Land the following year. The Weeknd released five studio albums, won three Grammy awards, and is known for big hits like “Can’t Feel My Face,” “The Hills” and “Starboy” featuring Daft Punk.
In 2019, The Weeknd made his film debut in Adam Sandler's Uncut Gems where he played himself. In 2021, he performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. He created and co-starred in the HBO drama The Idol for one season before its cancelation.
