Charli is a trained dancer. She started dancing when she was a small child and had been competitively dancing for many years before joining TikTok.

On Oct. 10, a TikTok account called @spicyopinions, which posts fan-submitted opinions about various topics, shared a theory about Charli and her dad. The theory suggests there is something suspicious about Charli’s sudden rise to fame, and it could have something to do with her dad, Marc, being a politician.
“This app has been around for about 5 years. Not once has somebody rose to fame so quickly and with SO MANY FOLLOWERS. How and why is she the first, especially with such mediocre content?” the post said. “I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve it, but it doesn’t add it.”
The post continued, “Her dad is [suspicious]. He’s rich AND a politician. My conspiracy theory is that he plans on running in a future election and being known worldwide as Charli, the unproblematic TikTok dancer who has done nothing wrong’s father could possibly ensure the votes of the future generation who aren’t very educated in the political field.”
The video of the theory has racked up over 50 thousand likes.
Dixie D’Amelio responded to the theory
Two days after the post was uploaded by @spicyopinions, Dixie D’Amelio chimed in to comment. She simply said, “Lol what.”
A number of fans agree with the theory, pointing out that there could be some truths to the idea that Charli’s rise to fame was not organic. For example, several TikTok users said that, for someone who is allegedly popular on the platform, her videos had never appeared on their “For You” page, which is where TikTok often suggests viral videos for people to see.
However, not everyone is buying into this. While some might find Charli’s stats to be “suspicious,” others think there is nothing shady going on. TikTok has exploded in popularity over the past several months, so Charli’s sudden popularity is not surprising, according to a few users.
